Test 2

Ok, folks.

Test 2 is out.
I thought the exam was alright. It had only two question, which does not seem like much but a lot of people, including me, ran out of time. :/

The issue I felt was that the unwinding question had a summation term in it, which required the formula for geometric series. I did not had it memorized unfortunately but I did not burn myself too much as I went on to do the proof and got parts marks. (Y)

The next question, I now realise, was very similar to the second question on Assignment 2. I did not realise this DURING the test and did the proof just for n = 2^k.

Well as with every test, I learnt some things from it which I will keep in my mind for the final.

Post Term test 1

Term test 1 ended on a good note.
It was a fair test, in the sense that it was not tricky. The questions reflected the material covered in lectures and assignment 1. I would say I found it easier than expected but I would not say that I will get 100 %.

I was nervous about structural induction being on the test, since I do not feel so comfortable with it yet ( I shall fix that soon with going over more examples). Thankfully, it was not on the test. Big relief.

First two question were relatively straightforward, in the sense of identifying the inductive step. I can not say the same for the last question. I spent quite some time on identifying the inductive step. I had a few strategies but there was not much time left for me to apply them. So, I wrote the whole structure (except for the critical lines of inductive step) of the proof in the hopes that I would at least get part marks for it (according to the instructions).

Now on to the tutorial 3 exercises!!!
